Ecologically clean products: the issues of standardization, certification and state support of the producers

Highlights:
► organic aquatic animal farming implies breeding of animals within the boundaries of an organic farm since the day of their birth or (to be considered as organic) the animals have to spend a third of their life in an organic household system
► a product may be labelled as a "product of an organic agricultural household" if it was produced in accordance with the requirements of Basic standards and contains no less than 95 % of ingredients having organic origins proven by a respective certification
► applying the principles of organic production, minimum requirements to the products and production set in the Basic standards of IFOAM, any country has an opportunity to develop its national standards, taking into account the conditions of a particular organic production
► the government of the Republic of Crimea intends to help the producers of organic agricultural products by developing an organic farming support program that implies subsidization the purchase of agricultural equipment/machinery and biological crop-protection agents by organic farmers

Abstract:
The article describes the main international requirements to the organic production and ecologically clean products, analyzes the structure of Basic standards, characterizes the essence of certification processes, discusses the examples of implementation of regional programs aimed at the development of the environmentally conscious production, organization and maintenance of organic agriculture in the Russian Federation. The materials of this article may be useful to students, postgraduate students, producers and consumers of ecologically clean products, as well as to a broader audience that takes interest in the food safety.
