Key performance indicators in use of spare parts as control points in the plant control system

This article discusses the directions of assessment of efficiency of maintenance equipment in the use of spare parts in the production facility. The analysis has led to conclusion that there are two focal areas for monitoring the value of the stock and the consumption of spare parts. The possible control point for the interim analysis and proposed key performance indicators for evaluation of final results are identified. The study showed that the main losses in efficiency can be considered spare parts, unused for a long period of time, poor planning minimum stock level and reorder amount, as well as emergency repairs as a result of the ineffectiveness of preventive maintenance. Management response and potential optimization actions will depend on the willingness to conduct in-depth analysis of the level of acceptable risk of losses and the current situation of a specific enterprise.
