Abstract:
In connection with the introduction of new technologies, the world is undergoing constant changes. The conditions of employment are also changing. Employers are much more scrupulous in selecting personnel, including in the list of requirements necessary for the applicant, sometimes the most unexpected. However, specialized education and experience of the candidate traditionally remain in the first place.
In this article, the authors attempt to understand which of the requirements are more important, and what employers prefer: diploma (certificate), confirming theoretical knowledge in the professional field, or work experience in the profile. In particular, the specialties for which higher professional education is a prerequisite are named; the situation when experience is more important than academic knowledge is outlined; the dependence of wages on the availability of a diploma is considered; the question of what the university of the future should be is designated.
